Restricted .il suffixes: who may register ac.il, gov.il, muni.il, k12.il, idf.il and net.il

Some .il suffixes are not open to the public. This is what the ISOC-IL rules say about each one.

Why "available" is not enough

Unlike co.il and org.il, these suffixes are allocated only to specific kinds of bodies. A name that nobody has taken is therefore not automatically open to you. ISOC-IL may also require evidence of eligibility, both when the name is allocated and at renewal, and may refuse to renew or suspend a name whose holder no longer qualifies.

What this site shows for them

When you tick "Also check…" the checker lists these suffixes too. For ac.il, gov.il, muni.il, k12.il and idf.il an unclaimed name is shown as RESTRICTED rather than AVAILABLE, for exactly the reason above.

If you are eligible

Follow the process of the relevant body from the list above, or ask an accredited registrar. The full text is in the ISOC-IL registration rules. Not eligible? A .co.il or .org.il domain is open to any person or legal entity.
